Curaçao
88,000 guilders for montlhy food baskets for 250 households
Food bank receives first grant of the restyled AMFO

The "Food Bank" project is the first project of an NGO to receive a grant from the Antillean Co-financing Organization (AMFO) following the new procedures.
With the grant of 88,000 guilders, 250 underprivileged households in Curaçao will get a food basket monthly. The financing agreement was signed on November 21 by Egbert Vos, president of the Foundation "Hulp aan Curaçao" and by Mr. Stanley Betrian, director of AMFO. The project runs till the end of December 2008.

This makes Stichting Hulp aan Curaçao the first organization to receive funding based on the new procedures of AMFO. The organization was founded in 1977 and regularly hands out food to deprived households, fruit for afterschool care in underprivileged neighborhoods and giftbaskets for the poor with Christmas.

The funding agency, that made a new start in May of this year, also announced that on short term the standard application form will be changed here and there. The new application form wil then be available on the website of AMFO (www.samfo.org) for downloading. Furthermore, this website will be completely transformed by the end of the year.
