AMFO gives 300.000 to children’s homes in Sint Maarten
Willemstad – Stichting Antilliaanse Mede Financierings Organisatie (AMFO) closed a series of donations last Wednesday, by signing three funding agreements on Sint Maarten. After a total of seven children’s homes on Curaçao and Bonaire received checks, now three children’s homes on Sint Maarten were next. The total amount for Sint Maarten was of 315.448 guilders. This money was made available as a result of a proposition made in the Dutch Parliament. Based hereon, AMFO’s donor, the Dutch Government, could transfer an extra amount of half a million euros, designated to finance children’s homes on Curaçao, Bonaire and Sint Maarten. Currently there are no children’s homes in Saba and Sint Eustatius.
Division key
The half million was divided based on a division key, determined on account of the results of a needs survey. Following is an overview of the three children’s homes on Sint Maarten, the number of children that are taken in in these homes and the respective amounts received:

Development
AMFO stands for sustainable social development. In order to reach this objective the foundation annually receives a maximum of 9 million euros of its donor, with which NGO-projects are funded. One of AMFO’s most important target groups is the youth, and with the funding of the children’s homes, AMFO gives an impulse to the living circumstances of some of the most sensitive youth of Sint Maarten.
